Richard Valenstein
Vice President, Finance

Mr. Valenstein is responsible for overseeing cash management, pensions and savings plan investments, financial planning, internal consulting and auditing services as well as business planning, corporate finance, automotive decision support and enterprise decision support for the company.

Prior to joining Toyota in August 2004, Valenstein served as Vice President, Chief Financial Officer for Mazda North America Operations, where he was responsible for finance, systems and administration. He held a number of positions during his 19-year tenure with Ford Motor Company, including controller for the engine group, serving as the finance head for a seven-manufacturing-plant entity. Valenstein was also controller for the small-car platform in Dunton, United Kingdom, a unit responsible for the development of product, manufacturing, distribution, sales and service for Ford small cars worldwide. He also held other business planning, product and profit-analysis positions.

Valenstein earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., and his Master of Business Administration degree (MBA) in Finance at the University of Maryland in College Park, Md.

In addition to his career at Toyota, Valenstein is a member of the board of directors for the Orange County (Calif.) chapter of the American Heart Association.
