What is STEM Goes Red?
In 2018, over 71% of jobs require STEM fields, yet women make up only 24% of the STEM workforce. STEM Goes Red is the AHA’s program for high school girls to explore STEM careers outside of the classroom. Through digital workbooks, virtual lunch and learns a series of events and mentorship, these promising students are exploring the field of STEMM in meaningful ways. Throughout the process, young women are discovering how their voices can influence and impact community health and develop key career opportunities in research, engineering and media. The program has expanded to 100 girls for 2019, with room to grow in years to come.
What is the Red Beaker Challenge?
The Red Beaker Challenge invites companies and philanthropists to come together and celebrate STEM Goes Red. Create a team of 8 to compete alongside the 2019 STEM class of high school girls in STEM-themed challenges. The winning team is awarded the Red Beaker Trophy during the luncheon program.
