My Story
Fighting heart disease in women is my number one cause, because I am personally impacted by this disease. Heart disease is African-American women’s greatest health risk and we are more likely to die from this disease than any other race.
This year I am serving as the American Heart Association’s Open Your
Heart Chairwoman for the Go Red For Women Movement. My mission is
leading our committee to raise $50,000 before the Go Red For Women
Luncheon on May 16, 2013. I will be
attending the Go Red For Women Luncheon to celebrate the success of our
committee efforts. All funds raised will support the mission of the
American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women Movement; to educate,
empower, and inspire women to know their risk for
heart disease and stroke, and take charge of their heart health and the
health of their families. I encourage you to join me and the Heart
Family, by making a donation to this critical cause.
I was moved to partner with the American Heart Association (AHA) in order to help broaden awareness and raise funds, specifically, on a grassroots level because of its major public education resources and research initiatives. The AHA website provides a wealth of regularly updated information on living a healthy heart lifestyle. AHA is also the largest organization of cardiovascular disease, second only to the federal government in cardiovascular research. Research is critical because learning more about heart diseases and stroke will reduce disability and death.
Please help me to save lives with your tax deductible gift.
From my heart to yours,
